WELCOME
The National language of Tanzania is Swahili, from which you might know the phrase ‘Hakuna Matata’, made famous by the Lion King. Not only is the language friendly, but you’ll find the people of Tanzania to be kind and hospitable.
This trip includes a 7 day climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro with an optional add-on of a 3 day Safari in Serengeti National Park. We highly encourage the safari add-on if this option works for you! Not only is it a once in a lifetime type of experience, but a wonderful reward for completing the climb of Kilimanjaro.
Tanzania is a country in East Africa that is most famously known for it's wilderness areas such as Mt.Kilimanjaro and it's many wildlife reserves, such as Serengeti National Park.
TRIP ESSENCE
Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, meaning it is not part of a mountain range. On this trip, we will be climbing the Machame Route, spending a total of 7 days on the mountain. This route is a non-technical climb and will take us through 5 different climate zones. Once at the top, we will summit Uhuru Peak (meaning “freedom” in Swahili) at 19,341ft. During our climb, we will be sleeping in shared tents on cot beds and hiking with small daypacks, as our bags will be carried for us.
The Mountain
Safari
Serengeti is a National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to an abundance of wildlife. It is most widely known for it’s annual migration of wildebeest and zebra but hundreds of others species can be found in the park. Following our climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro, we will embark on a 3 day Safari in Serengeti. We’ll enjoy the landscape from Safari cars and stay at a luxury tent resort. You can read more about Serengeti National Park here.
